Capturing detail and expressing concepts such as memory, stories, emotions, and the internal workings of the mind in a tangible and concrete way is at the core of my artistic practice. As an emerging South African artist and illustrator, I am deeply passionate about exploring the depths of human experience through my artwork. In 2021, I made a bold career change from Speech Pathology and Audiology to becoming a full-time artist, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the creative process. My diverse portfolio encompasses a captivating blend of subject matters, including landscapes, still lifes, botanicals, and miniatures. Through a combination of mediums, with a particular focus on acrylic and colour pencil, I aim to breathe life into my artwork and evoke an emotional response from the viewer.

My art is deeply rooted in storytelling, weaving narratives that reflect personal memories, thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Light and colour serve as essential tools for communicating these stories, enabling me to create evocative visual landscapes. As a result of my background in speech pathology and audiology, I have cultivated an understanding of the profound importance of connection and communication. My artistic approach combines meticulous attention to detail with a desire to convey complex emotions and thoughts. I find solace and control in the intricate beauty of detailed work, and yet, it is in capturing and expressing intangible feelings and thoughts that my creativity truly flourishes.

Drawing from the diverse experiences one obtains from a career working with people, my artistic voice has developed to reflect the intricacies of the human experience. I specifically have been exploring themes of isolation, loss, anger, psychological and emotional pain, anxiety, and depression exist alongside hope, healing, connection, and shared memories.

As an artist, I believe in the transformative power of art as a means of communication and connection. My goal is to create work that not only captivates aesthetically but also sparks empathy, understanding, and shared experiences.
